I’m tired of concerts at the White House, Barack’s bop, Michelle’s belts, the adorable first daughters, the first dog, and the organic garden on the White House lawn.
I’m just about run out of curiousity, fascination, and generalized race pride when it comes to the 44th president. Times are just too dire.
What I need is some high quality affordable health care with a strong public option. For one of these bum banks my taxpayer dollars bailed out – now about to pay themselves huge bonuses - to refinance my mortgage. For no more U.S. human beings or money to be shipped to Afghanistan or Iraq.

I’m tired of treading water, of convincing myself that being in a holding pattern means I’m doing well – at least I’m not falling backwards. I’m sick of hearing from friends and loved ones who’ve lost their job, car, or house, or are so afraid they will they’re working three jobs, being paid for one, and scared to say anything for fear of getting fired. I need the economy to revive so that people buy books again.

Enough with the abstract hope, with style and rhetoric over substance and action! I need Barack Obama to come on with that CHANGE I can BELIEVE in that I voted for. Now is the time. I’ve already been seduced, don’t let me be abandoned.

  1. As usual, Ms. Nelson’s commentary is eloquently on point!

  2. Please! Reality check someone–President Obama has been in the White House 10 months and cannot pass one single law or Bill by himself. It took a good 6 or 7 years for this country to get to this low point and you expect him to reverse everything in less than one year???? Do you actually believe two wars can stop at the drop of a hat?

Those are comments best left to the end of President Obama’s first term in office or at least the end of his 2nd year. Ms Nelson did you run out of real commentary?

  3. As usual we spend more time talking about what were tired of, iinstead of getting off our butts and doing something to help the situation. The President is not a dictatorship. He cannot just roll in and make things happen just because he or you want them to happen. If you remember, he said it would take time and patience.
I and I am sure he understands your pain, but don’t act like it’s his fault that you or your friends are in the situation that you are in. We all have a part in creating the life we want to live and in making sure we are prepared for whatever happens. Stop complaining and start doing! Black folks wake up, it doesn’t matter who is in office, it’s up to you to prepare for your future. You are the creator of your destiny. Not the President or other politicians. YOU!

  4. Pam you are on point!!! I get so tired of people complaining. The previous administration ran this country into the ground for 8 yrs and there are those who expect the President and other elected officials to change it over night. Pres. Obama during his campaign said repeatedly “it is not about me it is about YOU”. We as a nation have become very complacent. Before we complain, we need to ask ourselves what have we done as individuals to stimulate the economy and to turn this economic situation around? Working together with the administration is the only way to bring about change otherwise expect more of the same – INSANITY!! President Obama is doing what he said he was going to do, now what are you going to do?

  5. I absolutely agree with the past 3 comments. Jill Nelson, please stop complaining. The current President inherited this mess, and I think he is doing an outstanding job against all the odds, and daily criticisms that he must endure. Let’s continue to support our President, and keep the negativity to ourselves. Remember the old saying, if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything.

  6. As the old saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”, and besides the media is scrutinizing everything about the Obama family. I believe President Obama is working to the very best of his ability, but he just can’t wave a magic wand and everything is taken care of in the twinkling of an eye. The mess we are in is not of his making and was inherited from the previous administration(s), so get real and place things in the right perspective.
